1 HISTORY OF CAR

THE FIAT 126 REPLACED THE 500 NUEVO BAMBINO. IT WAS LAUNCHED IN 1972 AND HOPED TO OUT SELL THE 500. THE 126 CHASSIS WAS BASED ON THE 500 WITH A FEW MECHANICAL REFINEMENTS AND INCREASED ENGINE SIZE. THE FIAT 126 WAS ALSO KNOWN AS THE SEAT 133. IN THE 1990s, FIAT THOUGHT THAT THE 126 WAS ENDING ITS TIME, AND DESIGNED THE REPLACEMENT WHICH WAS THE FIAT CINQUECENTO. THE FIAT 126 WAS KILLED OFF IN 1993, BUT THE FSM VERSION LIVED UNTIL 2000.

STARTED OUT AS A 1980 FIAT 126 BIS, ABOUY 650cc. THEN I BOUGHT A MK111 CORTINA WITH A 2 LITRE ENGINE AND USED THIS AS A DONOR CAR. RAN THIS FOR A WHILE, THEN MOVED UP TO A ROVER 3500 V8, BUT PERFORMANCE PARTS WERE EXPENSIVE. FROM THIS I GOT A 305 SMALL BLOCK CHEVY. PARTS BEING A LOT CHEAPER. HAD SOME FUN WITH THIS BEFORE MOVING ON TO THE 350 CHEVY. TIMES GOT A LOT BETTER BUT NEEDED TO BE A BIT QUICKER. THEN I STROKED THE 350 TO A 383 WHICH IS MY PRESENT ENGINE IN THE CAR NOW, AND VERY HAPPY WITH.
