1 HISTORY OF CAR

Started production in 1972 in Italy.  Powered by a 594cc 2 cylinder engine 24BHP. Changed production from Italy to Poland in the early 80’s. In 1987 a new model was introduced  126P BIS with a new bigger engine! 704cc 26BHP? Also it had a change in the body ie a hatchback. Continued production in Poland until September 2000. Total production of these fun little cars was approx 4,5000,000.

2 HISTORY OF YOUR CAR

Bought my car in 1985, a 1974 air cooled model for the grand sum of £50, it came with the optional extra ie rust!  Then went out and bought a ford Capri 3 litre SXL, for the engine, gearbox and axle. Built a box section chassis and fitted a Vauxhall HA Viva front suspension unit. Time to build car was approx 6 months. Then went racing. After a few years ran a best of 14.04 with the Ford V6 engine, decided to make road legal and change engine.  Transplanted a 305ci V8 Chevy and turbo 350 auto gearbox, instant high 12 second quarters. After breaking half shafts nearly every race meeting decided to fit a ford 8” exle with L.S.D and aftermarket shafts.  Now the exle was stronger it was time to upgrade the engine, first went to a 350 then a 350 4 bolt, then stroked it to a 383 which is the engine in it today.  The car has also gone through many colour changes in the 24 years I have owned it, first black,  black and graphics, t red,  maroon,  silver,  Ferrari red then  this year BMW chilli red.

6 FUTURE GOALS

The quest for quicker and faster times is never ending, although I think that I have reached it with this 73” wheelbase car.  I have owned this car for 24 years now and I have had a lot of fun with it and hopefully I will carry on for another 24 years.

Progress Report

After the first race meeting in which Chris destroyed his engine (see Events page) Chris has since bought a 400 cu in Chevy block and had it bored 30 thou over in order to fit a second hand set of pistons he aquired from Kev. He also purchased a crank and rods from the same supplier. A new cam and gaskets from Real Steel and rings and timing gear from Performance Unlimited complete the purchases. The car is now all back together and running and awaiting the next race meet.

Progress on my car has really been just a engine change to a 406ci which has been running well for the last few years although l did have a bit of a hiccup last year when the block split, luckily l had another to put in and all the engine parts were ok.

My goal at this time is to run a 9sec on the engine as l have now taken the nitrous off,l managed a 10.007 in 2012 and last year on the old engine a 10.16 so this year with a couple of small mods l mite get there, although don't hold you breath as to get that elusive is 9 is frigging hard.
