1 HISTORY OF CAR

Fiat 126 BIS model made in Poland

2 HISTORY OF YOUR CAR

This Fiat was originally built for Lucy Skinner but due to her being away in Spain for six months, when it was finished it was sold to Ben (Nephew of Chris and Mark) who is also into drag racing. Lucy now has a blue one being built in much the same format as this one.
Due to not wanting to get too involved in chassis and suspension building, it was decided to mount a bigger engine into the rear of the Fiat where the original engine was.
A Toyota MR2 MK1 1600 twin cam was sourced because it was also a rear engine car. So the gear linkages, cables and pipe work go to the back of the car.
The floor plan of the Fiat was removed behind the front seats and a sub frame fabricated to pick up on strong points of the cars body, the engine was mounted within this sub frame.
New swinging arms were fabricated and fitted with  Fiat X19 hubs and disc brakes.  Fiat X19 drive shafts were re splined on one end to accept the Toyota drives
Behind the front seats were paneled with chequed plate on the bottom and Perspex on the top half, this keeps the engine and drivers compartments separate.
The front of the car was kept original except to the addition of a disc brake conversion.
